0DTE GEX
0DTE GEX is the gamma exposure carried by options with zero days to expiration, the contracts that expire at the end of the same trading day.
Why same-day options matter
On the S&P 500, SPX, XSP, SPY and ES options list expirations for every trading day. As expiry approaches, an option’s gamma concentrates around the strikes near price, so same-day options can weigh heavily on the gamma map, and more so as the close gets closer.
How it is read
Because same-day gamma builds up during the session and is gone at the close, a 0DTE map changes faster than a map of longer-dated options. Levels read at the open are a starting point: walls can move, the flip can shift and the regime can change sign before the close.
Same-day expiry also leaves little time to react. An option buyer can lose the entire premium; some short option positions can lose more than the amount initially committed.
How LiveGexLevels shows it
The map is updated within seconds during the US cash session, and when a wall swaps between nearby strikes of similar weight late in the day, the data gives it as a zone. The expected-move bands for the day sit alongside the levels.
Which MCP tool returns it
get_gex_regime and get_gex_levels return the walls, the flip and the levels. get_level_changes shows what moved since your last check, and get_market_context gives the day’s expected-move bands.
Questions and answers
Is LiveGexLevels a 0DTE signal service?
No. It shows where gamma is estimated to concentrate and how that changes. It does not say which option to buy or sell, or when.
Does the 0DTE map stay the same all day?
No. Same-day gamma changes through the session and is gone at the close, which is why the map is updated within seconds during the cash session.
What do I see after the close?
The last session’s closing map and the expected-move bands for the next session. The live map replaces it within the first minutes of the next open.
